1935年: 飛行士アメリア・イアハートがハワイからカリフォルニアへの旅を始めて、女性初の太平洋横断飛行を成功させる。
1757年*1: アレクサンダー・ハミルトン --- アメリカ建国の父の一人で、こんにちでも10＄紙幣の肖像画である --- が西インド諸島*2にて生誕。

January 11th, 1964: For the first time, the U.S. government warns that smoking may be hazardous to your health. Surgeon General Luther Terry: "It is the judgement of the Committee that cigarette smoking contributes substantially to mortality from certain specific diseases and to the overall death rate."
1935: Aviator Amelia Earhart begins the journey from Hawaii to California, making her the first woman to fly across theJanua Pacific Ocean.
1757: Alexander Hamilton, one of American's founding father and still on the ten dollar bill, is born in the West Indies.
And, 1973: Owners of American League baseball teams adopt the designated-hitter rule on a trial basis --- a rule that's remained ever since.
